The Liminal Time Archive

ARCHIVE STATUS: FORMING // ACCESS LEVEL: PUBLIC

What the archive preserves

The Liminal Time Archive is a growing record of environments capable of altering the experienced relationship among place, memory, familiarity, and time.

It is simultaneously a cultural repository, a collection of research stimuli, a record of changing technological nostalgia, and a catalog of first-person temporal experience.

An archive entry does not certify that an environment is objectively liminal. It records environmental conditions, observer responses, and the evidence available at the time of documentation.

ARCHIVE DIVISIONS

Physical Environments
Schools, corridors, malls, offices, hotels, hospitals, playgrounds, transit spaces, industrial facilities, waiting rooms, and other environments encountered directly.

Digital Environments
Video-game levels, abandoned virtual worlds, early websites, obsolete software interfaces, low-resolution architectural simulations, and online spaces separated from their original communities.

Remembered Environments
Places reconstructed through autobiographical memory, dreams, photographs, family recordings, and narratives. These records require special caution because memory is reconstructive rather than archival.

Constructed Environments
Virtual reality, staged photography, three-dimensional scenes, artificial environments, and AI-generated stimuli designed to manipulate ambiguity, familiarity, occupancy, obsolescence, or perceived temporal distance.

ENTRY STANDARD

Each record will eventually include an Archive ID, environment type, location or platform, encounter and documentation dates, observer relationship, known temporal context, available media, ECI and ERP profiles, associated field reports, epistemic labels, and ethical restrictions.

The archive is now being prepared. Initial records will include real-world observations and digital environments selected for their capacity to evoke familiarity without identifiable autobiographical memory.
